The 2nd course of the year held at Loans near Troon on 18/19th July. Five trainees attended and the instructor was Niall Baird.

Beginners training course at Camphill Community Farm, Loch Arthur, Beeswing, Dumfries on 30/31 May 2015. This was the rescheduled course initially set up for April. Five of the previous applicants turned out with Jim Scott instructing. The dyke was Galloway style  with a double set of covers under the copes. The weather held sunny on the first day but with a good breeze to take out the worst of the heat. The trainees were joined by four members on the first day. Under expert instruction they stripped out and rebuilt approx 15ft of dyke with all trainees enjoying the work. On the second day they utlized these new skills, completing a number of  essential repairs in the wall which had been caused by livestock. All trainees completed both days and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Our latest Beginners Training Course was held at Rainton Farm, Gatehouse of Fleet on 12/13th September. This was our largest course of the year with 12 trainees which required the full concentration of the instructor, Niall Baird.

The course commenced in heavy rain on the Saturday morning but that did not deter the trainees who seemed oblivious of the conditions. Fortunately, the Saturday afternoon weather was dry and this continued through Sunday until the course was finished - then the rain returned as we were dismantling the marquee.

Everyone seemed to enjoy the course though Nic Coombey was left on his own to complete his practise section of wall after everyone had departed.
